Measurement and Verification

The verification of energy savings can be required when projects are financed based on energy cost reductions. These shared savings arrangements require careful esimation, definition, and development of a verification plan. Savings verification is also useful in providing feedback on project design and operation.

We can develop and excute M&V plans for a wide array of projects. We've worked on M&V ranging from lighting and motors to industiral air compressors, supermarket refrigeration and HVAC upgrades. The key to successful M&V is documenting the basis for the savings along with defining the level of acceptable precision. We've applied the various M&V strategies (whole building billing analysis to comprehensive retrofit isolation) and authored an M&V guideline specifically for geothermal heat pump projects in the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP).
