Green Buildings & Sustainability
| CDH Energy is a member of the USGBC. We work with design and construction
teams to support LEED program participation in the following areas: |
|
| - Energy Modeling |
| - Monitoring & Verification (M&V) |
| - Commissioning |
| - MEP credit consulting |
|
| We provide energy modeling for both options analysis to inform the design
and modeling to determine Energy Optimization credits. Modeling is most
effective when applied in the design development phase to assess options
in support of cost/benefit analyses. |
| Our monitoring and Verification plans qualify for a LEED credit, but
more importantly they provide the roadmap for the building operators and management to
assess the performance of the building and its systems over time. We can
provide performance targets from the energy modeling, from industry
benchmarks or develop targets from internal corporate metrics. We can also
draw on our extensive building performance analysis experience to implement
the M&V plan and review system performance. |
| We commission MEP systems to achieve both the Fundamental
prerequisite as well as the enhanced commissioning credit. We interface
with the owner and design teams through design and construction reviews.
We work closely with the construction team to apply procedures that mesh
well with their work flow. |
| Through out the process we can provide assistance with LEED requirements
related to MEP credits ranging from instruction about underlying requirements to documentation
for credit submission and registration of projects. |

We have provided energy modeling, commissioning, M&V, general MEP LEED
consulting or a combination of these services on nine projects through 2005,
including schools, assembly, medical clinic, offices, industrial facilities and
the Platinum certified Alberici Corporate Headquarters that achieved 60 points -
the most ever achieved through 2005.

We developed energy models to assess MEP system choices early in the design development
and continued support through final design and Energy Optimization Credit submission.
The design achieved 10 points with reduced lighting power density, daylighting control,
underfloor air distribution, heat recovery, air and water side economizers and natural
ventilation. We also provided projections of impacts
from an active solar preheat for service water heating and a 65 kW wind turbine. We developed
an M&V plan to compare measured performance trends against modeled projections at both a system
and building level. We also implemented M&V review from the initial data.
